You can read most of this site without an account

The lessons, the RFC library, the glossary, the protocol pages and the foundations track are public. Reading them stores nothing about you on our servers and sets no tracking cookie.

What an account stores

• Your name, as you typed it, so pages can address you.
• Your email address, used for the confirmation link and password resets.
• A salted hash of your password. The password itself is never stored.
• Your learning progress: which lessons you completed, which checkpoints you viewed, your quiz attempts and best score, which labs you opened, and what you had open last.
• Session records, so you stay signed in and can be signed out everywhere.

What is not collected

There is no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking and no error-reporting service. Nothing you do in a packet lab leaves your browser — the simulations run locally, and the captures you export are generated on your own machine.

Who else sees it

Only the email provider that delivers your confirmation and password-reset messages, and only your address and the contents of those messages. Your progress is never shared and never sold.

Deleting it

Delete your account from your account page at any time. It removes the account, its sessions and all progress stored against it. The deletion is immediate and is not recoverable.
